Wimbledon Champion, Murray Pulls Out of ATP World Tour Finals.

| On 10, Oct 2013

Wimbledon 2013 champion Andy Murray has confirmed he will miss next month’s ATP World Tour Finals at London’s O2 Arena.

The decision has long been expected following the 26-year-old Scot’s decision to undergo a back surgery last month after his quarter-final exit from the US Open, shifting his thoughts entirely to next season.

“I’m really disappointed not to be playing this year, I love playing in front of my home crowd, it’s a great atmosphere,” said Murray.

“All the players look forward to competing in London and I’ll be doing my best to qualify again for the tournament next year.”

The world number three, who was due to enter into the tournament as one of the best eight tennis players, has reportedly begun back strengthening exercises, and should be ready to begin his annual training block in Miami by the middle of November.

He is expected to be in a much better state, physically and mentally, by the time of the US Open, after which he must have eliminated some match-rusts in exhibitions in Barbados and Abu Dhabi.
