APC Launches The “Next for Nigeria” Smartphone Application

Keeping to their promise to engage in a high tech campaign which will make politics more accessible to the ever politically conscious Nigerian youth, Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Retired General Muhammadu Buhari and running mate Professor Yemi Osinbajo have launched the “Next for Nigeria” smartphone app, a campaign smartphone app with a twist.
Utilizing the latest “Augmented Reality” technology which seamlessly blends the real-world with digitally overlayed media, the app delivers personal messages from the candidates directly to voters. Clever
use of the emerging technology delivers messages to the user when their
smartphone is pointed to any APC logo.
Following the trend of engaging the ever tech-savvy Nigerian electorate with diverse campaigning methods,Augmented Reality see’s its first ever use within an African election race.
Speaking in February the APC campaign media and publicity Director Malam Garba Shehu said, “The young peoples’ expression and voice regarding their decision for Nigeria’s future will be shared through these apps and distributed through popular social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and others,”.
Indeed, in what is seen as perhaps themost pivotal election in Nigeria’s history, leading aspirant Muhammadu Buhari and APC campaigning teams have established a digital presence which is ramping up by the day as the March 28th election date draws ever closer.
