Going viral is every business and artiste’s dream and indeed, many artiste’s spend the better part of their career hoping for the delivery of that song and video that will go viral, will make them blow and will make them a superstar.

This week, I have realised that Commandant Shem does make a good rapper, a good erm…. gesticulation artist and well, he has gone viral, if you had never heard of NSCDC – Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps; now you will never forget about it which I guess is a good thing, in Fact, Oga at the top is now a trending catch phrase and Shem’s interview is ranking no1 on google, was it a publicity stunt….

welll,…. Shem probably wants the video to go away like a bad dream and he may need psychotherapy for several years and antidepressants and mood stabilisers to stop him from breaking down and may never be emotionally stable enough without years of counselling  as his traumatic experience will have tainted him for life and rendered him incapable.,…abi…??

I do empathise with Shem though for a number of reasons., although many argue that the majority of folk in any kind of policing, army etc.. position in Nigeria do it to avoid becoming destitute, I suppose sometimes it may be that they do love their job working mingling with the community and interacting with folk on the beat.

The thing is…when you grab a good officer off the beat/street patrol and place him in an administrative senior position, he may enjoy the trappings of executive office, but may not like it or be prepared for what it entails.

I have had a couple of calls and pings and messages from friends who know I am a proud Lagosian and I daresay,…the first thing I did was damage control, I denied Shem straight away, in fact the last time I was asked I think I said ‘woh…he is not Lagosian, we don’t have any Shem on the Island, he must be from Kwara…’….hheheheeh Lord help me…
