Capt Yusuf Sambo sibling to Nigerian VP Namadi Sambo dies tragically in car crash

News reached our desk today about the tragic death of Capt. Namadi Sambo.

We sat back awhile in Oder to allow his funeral before breaking the sad news.

Our sources indicate that whilst driving at undisclosed/unknown speed a tyre puncture caused loss of control and subsequently led to the accident which wrapped the vehicle a BMW model unknown around an electricity pole.

Other sources report onlookers were preoccupied with phones and excitedly taking photos and filming him as he struggled frantically to free himself from the vehicle for some time without intervention.

Subsequently the fuel tank (fuel as we know is volatile when mobile phone activity is high) exploded suddenly engulfing the vehicle and it’s occupant in flames.

It is our understanding that there may be another casualty who expired upon visiting the scene, being his secretary; but this is unconfirmed.

We are also told so violent was the ensuing blaze that the vehicle metal was fused and his remains had to be hacked out of the vehicle.

Several public responses to his passing have been recorded including the president paying respects to the VP, members of the public claiming he deserved it, others alleging he was travelling at alarming speed and others bemoaning road safety conditions amidst others voicing sadness at the desensitised reaction of the public who stood back as he struggled to free himself without intervening.

Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Vice President Namadi Sambo, Malam Umar Sani, announced the death of Capt. Yusuf Sabo Sambo.

Sani, who made the announcement in a statement issued in Abuja, said the deceased died as a result of a fatal motor accident on Bill Clinton Drive, Airport Road, Abuja.

Ibrahim Babangida, former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar and several other dignitaries and sympathisers.

Prior to going to press, President Goodluck Jonathan was at the Aguda House residence of the Vice President in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, to share condolences with him over the sad event.
