The Transformational Power Of Photoshop

A viral video demonstrates how much images of models are enhanced to look “perfect.”
While the wizard-like software celebrates its 23rd birthday this year, quite a clamorous crowd is much displeased with its body transforming properties. Released in 2011 by group Global Democracy, this video demonstrates how Photoshop may completely alter the body’s appearance to the point where it no longer looks, well, real. And at an age defined by advertising and mass consumption, men and women alike are inundated with unrealistic–and often impossible–examples of the human form at its most beautiful, fit and sleek.
What’s the solution? While the makers of this video aren’t so naive to think that Photoshop use will ever be a thing of the past–after all, they’re trying to sell an idea–they do demand that all images of models that have been ‘shopped come with a mandatory disclaimer.
