A release by the chief press officer in the assembly, Mr Lekan Kolade, quoted the speaker, Honourable Monsurat Sunmonu, to have said the passage of the budget, after weeks of deliberations on it, would empower ministries, departments and agencies to render statutory service towards the development of the state.

The speaker urged the executive arm of government to ensure that all the geopolitical zones in the state got equal treatment in the implementation of the budget and siting of projects.

She assured the people of the state that the assembly would work in concert with the executive to ensure proper implementation of the budget for the good of the citizenry.

Chairman, Committee on Public Accounts, Finance and Appropriation, Honourable Olusegun Olaleye, while commenting on the differential in the budget, said it was informed by the lawmakers’ consideration of some critical areas of the state economy, such as health and the education sectors.

According to him, the committee raised the amount budgeted for the proposed technical university by N2 billion, in view of its importance.
