KORA Splashes Millions On Winners

Ahead  of this year’s KORA awards, Entertainment Rave has exclusively obtained the cash prizes to be given out to award winners in all the categories of the 2015 edition of the awards.

Expected to attract high profile international music stars, the prestigious KORA Awards would hold on Thursday, December 3, 2015, at Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino, Windhoek, Namibia.

For this year’s edition of the awards, the organisers of the event have revealed that award winners who are in attendance at the event would receive a cash prize. “One of the most significant things this year during the awards is that award winners who are in attendance at the event will be receiving both the KORA Awards trophy and a cash prize. However, it is only award recipients that are present during the awards ceremony that would receive the cash prize”.

The biggest winner for the night – the best artist of the continent – would smile home with a mouthwatering sum of $1m which is equivalent to N200m. Other winners such as the Best Male and Female Artist West Africa, Best Male and Female Artist Southern Africa, Best Male and Female Artist East Africa, Best Artist Male and Female Central Africa, and Best Artist Male and Female North Africa, would get $50,000 each provided they are in attendance at the event.

Also, winners of the categories such as Best Group Africa, Best Group of Spiritual Music, Best Male and Female Artist of Spiritual Music, Best Traditional Male and Female Artist of Africa, Best Traditional Group of Africa, Best Artist of Diaspora, Best Video of the Year would all grab $20,000 each.

Likewise, winners of the Best Collaboration of the Year, Best Album of the Year, Best Artist of Hip Hop Music, Best Artist of Urban Music and the Most Downloaded Song of the Year would get $20,000 each. Winners of the Kora Legendary Awards will smile home with $50,000 each which is equivalent to N10 m.

The glamorous event is scheduled to have in attendance the crème of the entertainment industry and other internationally acclaimed stars.

Past Nigerians who have won the Kora Awards includes D’banj, P’Square, Davido and Chidinma.
