Melvin Anthony Ofodu ”Elvino” was born in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria and hails from Azeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State Nigeria. He was raised in a suburb called Laranto/Apata in Jos.

Like most ghetto kids he grew up in a community where opportunities were less, but his parents ensured that he got an education, and a good up-bringing. Growing up, he has always loved music because his father loved music equipment and used to rent out stereos and loud speakers to customers.

Melvin aka Elvino got used to a musically loud environment, playing the likes of the late Fela Kuti, Bob Marley, Abba, even local music like Chief Osita Osadebe and so on. He attended St. Murumba Secondary School in Jos, Plateau State, where he found direction in music.

He joined the  ‘Music & Drama club’ after joining a local group  dancers called ‘The smooth criminal’  and also he joined an acapella group called ‘MMPP’ (Melvin, Micheal, Peter & Paul) i.e Peter & Paul of now “Psquare”.

He schooled briefly in the University of  Jos , then got admission for his preferred course in FUT Minna, Niger State where he graduated. He currently runs an IT programme.

A business-minded, funny and outgoing person, fun to hang-out with and a good song writer.

Music has always been his passion and has always worked hard and networked pretty well to meet the right people to help push his kind of music. ”I just don’t hear the sound of music in my head for nothing……..’ he says.
