The Federal Polytechnic in Auchi, Edo State, has been ranked as Africa’s best in the latest ranking of the best tertiary institutions in the World carried out by Webometrics. With this latest ranking, the polytechnic is allegedly the best in Nigeria.

The development also indicated that Auchi Polytechnic remained the second best tertiary educational institution in the country after the University of Ibadan.

Speaking with journalists at the weekend, Dr. Philipa Idogho, the Rector of the polytechnic attributed the development to hard work, support from staff and students of the institution.

According to her, staff and students had ensured a peaceful academic environment in the last five years since she became the Rector.

Idogho, who was elated over the latest ranking, pointed out that it was the result of consistent performance since 2010.

“That the polytechnic has consistently been rated with the universities demonstrates the high standard of academic activities in the institution,” Idogho said. “The rating is a further challenge to the polytechnic’s management to work harder as being at the top is not as difficult as remaining at the top.”
