The Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, weekend, said the N69 billion Millennium Tower and Cultural Spine being built at the Central Area of Abuja, the Federal Capital City would be completed by December next year, 2014.

The Director, Enginering Services of the Federal Capital Development Authority, FCDA, Mr. Abu Alfa, an engineer who disclosed this, noted that a total of N34 billion has so far been spent on the Millennium Tower project leaving a balance of N35 billion. He stressed that work on the construction of the monumental project has gone very far. According to him, some components of the project would be ready this year while the rest are billed for completion by October next year subject to budgetary allocation.

Alfa however listed those to be completed next month to include the National Square and the underground parking system, adding that the rolling restaurant would be completed by June next year while the cultural centre, museum, five-star hotel, auditorium, swimming pool and the botanical garden components of the project would be completed by October next year (2014).

Millennium Tower and Cultural Spine has a total height of 110 meters and is being built in such a way that security considerations have been factored in. In the 2013 budget only a paltry N2 billion was allocated for the project.
