The Question is; WHY DOES THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT NEGLECT OUR NATIONAL HEROES AND HONOUR THEM WHEN THEY DIE. MOST OF THESE MEN AND WOMEN LIVE IN POVERTY TODAY.

Some succour is coming the way of the designer of the Nigerian flag, Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi (MON), as a youth organisation, GNext Youths, has concluded plans to renovate his house in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Believed to have been abandoned by the country, Akinkunmi designed the green-white-green flag at the age of 25, when he was a student in London, UK.

According to a co-founder of GNext, Olufemi Olumide, Akinkunmi not only suffers from Parkinson’s disease, he  lives in a house that hardly befits his status. He adds that it is this reason the youths have decided to support him.

“The GNext Youths will renovate his living room and bedroom. Electrical appliances windows, window frames and furniture will be replaced, just as flowers will be planted round the house. In addition, the fence will be repainted. Renovations are to commence on May 8 and last till May 10, when it will be declared open by the First Lady of Oyo State in a ceremony that will also mark his birthday,” he adds.

He adds that the exercise will begin on May 8 and end on May 10, which is Akinkunmi’s birthday.

He says, “We harness our large network of youth volunteers from institutions, organisations, churches and corporate organisations to lend him a helping hand.”

G-Next (Generation Next) is an interdenominational Christian organisation with a vision to impact youths towards positive change.

DOESNT HE DESERVE AN APARTMENT IN ABUJA FOR EXAMPLE WITH THE SAME FLEETS OF CARS AND SECURITY LIKE OUR SENATORS OR GOVERNORS. THIS MAN DESIGNED A FLAG WHICH TODAY AND FOR A LONG TIME TO COME WILL REMAIN OUR NATIONAL PRIDE, A FLAG THAT IS NOTHING BUT OUR NATIONAL IDENTITY……………………
