UK, Reps, CAN, OPC, others condemn Kano suicide bombing

| On 20, Mar 2013

In his reaction to the bomb blast, UK Foreign Office Minister for Africa Mark Simmonds condemned the attack and reiterated UK commitment to support efforts to counter terrorism.

A statement issued, yesterday, and signed by Head Political Section, Paul Edwards said: “I was appalled to learn of another senseless bomb attack in the city of Maiduguri in northeast Nigeria.

Burnt luxury buses lie in the parling area at New Road bus station in Sabon Gari district in northern Nigerian’s largest city of Kano on March 19, 2013. Two suicide bombers rammed their car into a bus laden with passengers at the motor park, killing at least more than 22 people and injuring 65 others, and the following explosion burnt five buses.

Today’s attack outside a bank in the city has claimed the lives of more innocent Nigerians and follows the shootings at schools in Maiduguri yesterday in which a number of teachers were killed and students injured, as well as a bomb attack at a bus station yesterday in Kano.

“I wish to offer my condolences to the bereaved and injured and condemn those responsible for such despicable acts of violence. There can be no justification for these attacks which have killed and injured ordinary Nigerians going about their daily business.

The UK will continue to support the Nigerian authorities in their efforts to counter the terrorist threat in Nigeria and to help bring those responsible to justice.

Personally, we think the UK government are patronising Nigeria.

I mean how on earth could RAF jets meant to be carrying out a covert rescue operation be sighted landing in an international airport and flying over an area where terrorists are holding kidnapped foreign subjects in broad daylight??!!  They made fools of SAS and the Nigerian army who manage to rescue folk without all that melee for us here after last weeks fiasco that caused the supposed death of 7 people I am sure if you hold the microphone to Nigerian mouths in the UK they will tell you the English are confusionists, rather unintelligent and they are not respectful of anything or anyone, no doubt about that.
