Super Eagles head coach, Stephen Keshi, says Nigeria will have to be at their best when they play against 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN) hosts South Africa in their final Group A match.

Keshi’s side opened their debut campaign in the ongoing tournament with a loss against Mali before securing a 4-2 win over Mozambique on Wednesday. They face an uphill challenge against current form side South Africa in their final group game.

“I hope we get better and better because with football I cannot say we shall beat South Africa,” said Keshi.

South Africa drew against the Eagles of Mali on Wednesday to increase their point haul to 4- same as Mali, who are second because of an inferior goal difference.

Nigeria are third on the group standings, a point adrift of the joint group leaders. Mozambique are yet to win a match and technically out of the race.

The Eagles need to win against the hosts to keep every realistic hope of reaching the quarter-finals alive.

He admits Sunday’s decider will be tough because of the experience in depth in the Bafana Bafana squad.

“If you look at some of their players like (Siphiwe) Tshabalala and goalkeeper (Itumeleng) Khune, they have lots of experience and this will matter a lot going into the decisive group game on Sunday,” said Keshi.

“It is very difficult to handle these youngsters (Super Eagles team B), but they are an intelligent group who have mastered things quickly.”

Super Eagles Team B Faces South Africa on Sunday. Nigeria’s final game kicks off by 6pm Nigerian time.
