| On 10, Oct 2013

The Super Eagles of Nigeria opened training session at the premise of the ‘newly re-grassed’ Abuja National Stadium on Tuesday afternoon in the presence of large turnout of football-loving Nigerians gathered to spur the team’s preparation.

Emmanuel Emenike, Victor Moses, Shola Ameobi, Brown Ideye and Nosa Igiebor were not among the 18 players present at Tuesday’s afternoon session, graced by the Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Gbenga Elegbeleye, amongst other.

Vincent Enyeama, Ahmed Musa and John Mikel Obi, who arrived in Abuja on Tuesday morning, led the foreign-based contingents present at the venue.

Team official Dayo Enebi Achor said Ameobi had a slight flight delay and was expected Wednesday morning, while Fenerbahce of Turkey striker Emenike was expected before dinner yesterday (Tuesday), same for Victor Moses and Brown Ideye.

Coach Keshi had earlier quelled the injury concerns surrounding Ameobi, insisting the Newcastle striker will be available for the match.

Top team official Emmanuel Attah said the arrivals are all in good shape and ready to finish off the qualification job.

“The players who have joined up are in top shape. We are expecting the other players later today,” Attah said.

Tuesday’s training, which centered mostly on conditioning, lasted for about two hours. The team will return to the same venue for Wednesday afternoon session.
