NASS bars workers as Jonathan presents budget Tuesday

The management of the National Assembly on Monday directed workers below Grade Level 14 not to resume duties on Tuesday, until after President Goodluck Jonathan. would have rounded off his budget presentation to the joint sitting of the Senate and House of Representatives.

This was contained in a circular signed by the Director of Personnel Management, Dr Ishaku  Sarki, on behalf of the Clerk to the National Assembly, Alhaji Salisu Maikasua.

Apart from the affected categories of workers, our correspondent also learnt that the Banks and Eateries, operating within the premises, had been directed to stay off business on Tuesday to avoid “Strict disciplinary action”

The memo reads in part, “I am directed to refer to the rescheduled presentation of the 2014 Budget estimates by President Goodluck Jonathan to the joint session of the National Assembly.

“All staff on salary Grade Levels 01-14, except staff working in the office of the Clerk to the National Assembly, Sergeant –At –Arms, Medical and Protocol, are hereby directed to resume for work on Tuesday, November 19th 2013 at 2.00pm and not 8.00am.

“Please, note that officers affected, who flout this directives, shall be made to face very strict disciplinary action.”
