“Blame Organisers for performance to Empty Seats At ‘Wizkid Live Abuja Invasion’ Concert” – Fan. @wizkidayo
This shouldn’t be a surprise, after all we all know how Abuja is when it comes to music concert.
The only shows that pull crowd in Abuja are comedy shows.
The Wizkid concert which was held at the prestigious International Conference Centre at Abuja was hunted with low turn out of fans and guests.
Those in attendance were stunned by the number of people who showed up at the concert with Wizkid the head liner and guest appearances from label mates Skales, Niyola, Shaydee.
A concerned Wizkid fan based in Abuja and an entertainment consultant speaks;
“We often feel its all about gigantic venues because these artists are stars but do not consider the fan’s pocket or even the period at which the event was slated if actually its the best time. Organisers will always day dream of how much money to be made per seats. How can you organise an event after Sallah when people had spent so much money already? You also did not put into consideration other events all over the Nation such as Felabration and so on. What about the security situation in Abuja lately being the seat of power? Meanwhile, it was also scheduled without proper hype as all concentration was on Wizkid. Do you guys think everyone loves Wizkid? The same mistakes corporate organisations make when picking artists as brand ambassadors. Because an artist’s song is viral doesn’t make him big to become your ambassador because most times a large percentage of your target market may not really be the artist’s fan”.
The show was to start at 5:30 PM but empty seats were everywhere as at 9:30 PM when the photos below were taken.
After being shocked by the low turn out for his Abuja show, the Star Boy CEO has shown that he’s unphased.
Very early the following morning, the superstar sent out a tweet on his Timeline…… If you understand Yoruba, you’ll know what that means.
At least he got paid, full turn out or not. Hmm!!!
